Sirada Udombhakdibongse, MD, or Dr Dream, a rehabilitation physician, has given the view that the science of rehabilitation cares not only for the body but for the mind as well, its goal being to care for the patient as a whole.

Dr Dream says that the phrase "rehabilitation medicine" covers many aspects, from the care of muscles, bones, joints, and tendons through to conditions of the brain, such as stroke, and importantly the care of the mind. A good rehabilitation physician therefore has to be one who listens to the patient's suffering of mind as well.
