Elder Care
Integrated Fall Prevention Protocol
As we grow older, confidence in taking each step is often replaced by concern. A fall affects more than the body: it can also take away independence in daily life and the joy of beloved activities.
The Integrated Fall Prevention Protocol combines physical rehabilitation, occupational therapy, and selected training equipment to help reduce risk factors and support confidence in movement. It cannot prevent every fall.
Core Principles and Program Goals
We do more than train walking. We focus on rebuilding confidence from the inside out:
- Overcome Fear: Helps reduce fear of falling through training in a 100% safe, controlled environment with safety supervision.
- Empower Confidence: Builds confidence in daily life for older adults and people at risk.
- Sustainable Balance: Improves balance and body movement effectively and sustainably.
Expert Team
Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists work closely with each person receiving care to analyse their needs and design an individualized treatment plan, from in-depth assessment through advanced skills training.
Assessment
Accurate, objective assessment supports the most precise care. People receiving care are assessed with internationally standardized tools:
- TUG (Timed Up and Go): Measures mobility and transitions between positions.
- Berg Balance Scale: Assesses balance during basic movement.
- Mini-BESTest: Examines balance reactions and dual-task walking in depth.
- Moti Physio (Test 3): A 3-dimensional posture-analysis system that measures body sway.
Rehabilitation Program Structure
Phase 1: Dynamic Core Balance & Biofeedback (25–30 minutes)
Focuses on stimulating proprioception and weight transfer:
- Innovative Equipment: Training with the THERA-Trainer Balo (Dynamic Standing Frame) and balance platforms.
- Gamification Experience: Uses Virtual Reality (VR) and motor sensors to turn training into games, reducing worry and encouraging natural movement.
Phase 2: Strength & Functional Integration (20–25 minutes)
Therapists select training stations best suited to your physical condition:
- Station A: Reformer Pilates focuses on core and lower-limb strength, training in lying positions to reduce impact; it is suitable for people with low muscle mass or osteoarthritis.
- Station B: Motion Rehabilitation (Neuro-Focus) uses a wearable exoskeleton and interactive reaching to train the nervous system and eye-hand coordination.
- Station C: Therapeutic Exercise (Community Ready) simulates real situations, such as stepping over obstacles and practicing reactive stepping when pushed.
Receiving Care
- Intensive phase: 2 sessions per week (during weeks 1–4 to build strength)
- Maintenance phase: every 2 weeks or once a month (to maintain balance performance)
- From THB 6,800 per session
Note: The program can be adapted at the discretion of the medical and therapy team, based on the actual physical condition of the person receiving care.
