One of the most important organs of the body that we use in daily life almost all the time is the hand. Using the hand in various postures continuously for a long time has a bad effect on the muscles and the nerves in the hand. Therefore simple postures of hand exercise that help stretch the muscles of the hand should be practised in order to protect the hand from symptoms of injury or from various diseases, such as the examples of the postures of exercise below. Doing each posture 10 times for 10 seconds will help reduce the risk of injury

Bending the wrist and twisting the wrist

Beginning with an easy posture such as bending the wrist towards the arm and turning it back out, then closing the hand loosely and twisting the wrist anticlockwise and clockwise alternately

Stretching the muscles of the wrist

Stretch the arm straight out from the trunk, then use the other hand to hold the area of the palm of the side that is stretched out and gradually press the hand down and over towards the arm until tightness is felt, then change to pushing the hand upturned back towards the back of the arm. Do them alternately

Stretching the fingers

Stretch the fingers by placing the hand face down flat on the table, using the other hand to gradually raise one finger up as high as possible while the other fingers still lie flat on the table, then doing the same with the following fingers one after another

The rubber-band posture

By bringing all 5 fingers together into a point, then finding a large rubber band to put around the point of all 5 fingers, then spreading every finger in and out slowly one after another

Flicking the thumb

Flick the thumb by bringing the index finger to support underneath the thumb, then adding force in order to push the finger out, similar to flicking a finger but not yet releasing it, then releasing the finger so that it flicks out. Repeat and then change the finger

Squeezing a ball

Find a ball or a round object of a size that fits the palm of the hand to hold, then squeeze and release alternately

Opening the hand

The easiest posture, by opening all 5 fingers of the hand and spreading them out as far as possible until tightness is felt, then repeating
